Disadvantages
Some people complain about assembly being difficult. The main problem is in inserting the last tension rod and hooking it into the frame. However, we have a solution below:
Assembly Tip: How to put the end tension rods in:
There is a good amount of tension on the end tension rods and some people have complained they are too hard to put on. This is the normal way the cot is supposed to be, to keep it tight when assembled and able to hold weight.
First of all, before installing the rods & braces, make sure the entire canvas is completely centered on the frame. This will makes things easier as you go to assemble the rods.
The first rod should go in easy. For the second rod there will be tension. After the first end of the rod is in place, hold the cot with one hand. Then sit on the floor on the other side and use your foot to push on the rod while guiding the rod into place over the tab with your other hand – then slowly release your foot and the cot will be assembled.
Here is a second option which could be even easier for some people: After you’ve put the first rod in one end and are ready for the second – after one tab is inserted, stand the cot up vertically. Stand on the crossbar, raise the cot up, line up the pin and snap it in place.
Third method: If you have a piece of 2 by 2 lumber, you can use it as a lever to spread the metal parts apart until you snap the crossbar into place.
Once you assemble the cot the first one or two times, it should be “broken in” and stretched out a little, so future assemblies will be easier.
